Cinematic Conversations: Jessica Green on Solange’s When I Get Home
Co-Presented with Dallas VideoFest
with Bart Weiss
In celebration of the 2nd anniversary of Solange's When I Get Home, a newly remastered director’s cut is now available on the Criterion Channel. To celebrate, our Artistic Director Jessica Green will join Dallas VideoFest for a special conversation on the film building off of her essay about When I Get Home for Rice Architecture's Cite Digital.
When I Get Home is an exploration of origin and spiritual expedition. The film confronts how much of us have we taken or left behind in our evolutions, and how much fear determines this? The artist returned to her home state of Texas to answer this through an expedition of a futurist rodeo uplifting the narrative of black cowboys and honoring her Houston lineage through this visual meditation.
